Industrial Entrepreneur Development Initiative

Under the initiative to develop industrial entrepreneurs, graduates from VTA, NAITA, and other technical institutions are selected and provided with the necessary foundation to establish themselves as professional entrepreneurs. This includes providing capital equipment packages under a 50% cost-sharing scheme to help them set up their industries.
Additionally, this benefit is extended to individuals:
Who are currently engaged in an industry, verified by recommendations from the respective Grama Niladhari Officer and Divisional Secretary in their area.
Who are registered under a business name.

Development Initiatives

With the primary goal of enhancing industrial development in the Southern Province, the authority identifies strategic initiatives to uplift various industrial sectors operating within the region. This program focuses on:
Identifying individuals across different fields with industrial knowledge.
Supporting the growth of local industries that directly contribute to the national economy.
Adding new producers annually to the program, fostering their development into successful industrial entrepreneurs.
Under the theme “Creating Industrial Entrepreneurs for a Sustainable Future”, the program aims to identify new industrial entrepreneurs in the Southern Province, assist them in developing their products, and integrate them into the domestic economy for its growth and prosperity.

• Protecting local producers and fostering the creation of new industrial entrepreneurs, which can help retain foreign exchange within the country and boost the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
• Reducing unemployment and contributing significantly to the transformation of Sri Lanka into a developed nation.
• Providing entrepreneurs with necessary training, technical guidance, and support to either advance their current industries productively or establish new ventures effectively.

Steps to Identify New Entrepreneurs

Awareness Programs

Organize awareness initiatives to compile a registry of individuals engaged in industrial sectors scattered across the Southern Province.

Collaborations

Build partnerships with institutions such as Technical Colleges, Industrial Institutes, and Vocational Training Centers.

Graduate Lists

Collect and categorize training lists of students who have completed courses based on their respective fields.

Current Trainee Lists

Gather lists of students who are currently undergoing training in relevant courses.

Provision of Equipment for Business Development for Entrepreneurs

Under the Self-Employment Promotion Initiative, a structured selection process identifies beneficiaries to encourage the establishment of self-employment ventures. Beneficiaries are supported through a 50% contributory grant scheme, allowing them to procure necessary goods and equipment tailored to their specific self-employment ventures.

Maximum financial support of Rs. 100,000 per individual.
The financial assistance is allocated for the purchase of capital equipment relevant to the entrepreneur’s selected industrial sector
