Southern InnovaBiz

The Southern Provincial Industrial Development Authority, in collaboration with the Southern Provincial Ministry of Industries, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka Inventors Commission, Southern Provincial Department of Education, and the Southern Provincial Department of Agriculture, has formulated a project titled “Southern Innova Biz” aimed at supporting research and development for inventors in the Southern Province. Accordingly, this project provides financial assistance (up to a maximum of 500,000 rupees, subject to conditions) and technical support for the development of prototypes of innovations with potential for commercialization.

Key Objectives
Empowering inventors by providing financial assistance (up to a maximum of Rs. 500,000 – Subject to conditions) and technical support to develop prototypes of viable and marketable innovations.
Identifying inventions in the Southern Province, securing intellectual property rights, and directing them towards commercialization.
Contributing to national production and income by uplifting innovation within the Southern Province.
Ensuring effective implementation of the project through a collaborative and integrated approach among partner institutions.

Agreement with the inventor, which will be executed by the Southern Provincial Industrial Development Authority, subject to the procedures of the Authority

Release of funds according to the grant agreement

The evaluation decision made jointly or separately by the 06 contracting institutions is the final decision

Instructions for Completing the Application Form

  • It is the responsibility of the applicant to provide all information clearly and accurately.
  • The name of the inventor/partners (as stated in the National Identity Card) and the required information must be correctly indicated.
  • The signature(s) of the applicant(s) must be included.
  • The relevant patent number or patent application number related to the invention must be accurately mentioned, and if a patent has already been granted, a copy of the patent certificate should be attached.
  • The proposed project plan (to be prepared according to the given format) and a brief description (approximately one page) explaining how the future benefits of the project will help achieve its objectives must be submitted.
