The commitment to developing self-employment and boosting local incomes in the region took a significant step forward today with the successful conclusion of an intensive 8-day Footwear Training Program.

At the request of the Thihagoda Divisional Secretariat, the certificate awarding ceremony was held to honor the trainees who successfully completed the hands-on course, equipping them with the essential skills for footwear design, production, and repair.

The initiative aims to significantly reduce unemployment in the Thihagoda area by cultivating a new cohort of skilled artisans and entrepreneurs, enabling them to establish their own businesses and contribute to the local economy.
