The event was attended by the Assistant Divisional Secretary of Habaraduwa, Ms. Sujeewa Damayanthi, along with several other officials representing the Divisional Secretariat. Representing the political authority, the Honorable Chairman of the Habaraduwa Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Thakshina Ravishan, and the Member of Pradeshiya Sabha for the Meepe Division, Mr. Kithsiri Thiranagama, among other officials, also graced the occasion. This program was supervised by Ms. Dilini Rasanjali of our institution.

In 2025, at the request of the Habaraduwa Pradeshiya Sabha, this initiative was launched in collaboration with our institution as a preliminary program to identify grassroots-level unemployed individuals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in self-employment across all Grama Niladhari divisions in the area.

As the second phase of this project, training was provided to those identified last year who expressed interest in the Batik industry. The primary objective of both the Habaraduwa Pradeshiya Sabha and our institution is to provide these individuals with the necessary equipment under a 50% contribution scheme to start their businesses, thereby securing their direct contribution to the national economy. This project was initiated as a pilot project.

The ceremony was presided over by the Honorable Governor of the Southern Province, Dr. Susiripala Manawadu, and the Deputy Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Mr. Nalin Hewage. During the event, the importance of developing professional skills suited for the new technological era was emphasized. The necessity of providing systematic vocational training regarding rapidly evolving Hybrid technology and electronic vehicles within the automotive sector was also highlighted.

Students who successfully complete this course are awarded a recognized certificate, which is considered a significant foundation for their professional lives and the enhancement of employment opportunities. Furthermore, it is expected that students who complete the course will be provided with the basic equipment required to start their own businesses under a 50% contribution scheme.

The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including the Honorable Chairman of the Southern Provincial Industrial Development Authority, Mr. G. Wickramamudali, Secretary to the Southern Provincial Ministry of Fisheries and Industries, Mr. Ranjith Yapa, and the Director General of the Industrial Development Authority, Dr. J.A.S. Jayasinghe.

Additionally, the resource person for the course, Mr. G.P.G.G. Karunaratne, the Manager of the Sterling Galle Branch, Mr. Manoj Kudagodage, and several other officials were also present.
