Southern Provincial Industrial Development Authority (SPIDA) had been setup in December, 2008 under the Southern Provincial Industrial Development Authority Statute No.01 of 2002 which was approved by Southern Provincial Council on 08.03.2002. This was amended by the gazette paper on 2016.07.07.

Objectives, Powers, and Functions of Authority



To encourage and promote the establishment and development of Industries in the Southern Province.



To attract local and foreign investors to the Province for the purpose of establishing industrial projects and to assist investors by giving necessary advice.



To work towards the creation of a stable economy and an environment suitable for investment where basic facilities would freely available.



To undertake training and educational activities pertaining to the development of business talents, by holding training programs, seminars, workshops, work programs, conferences, educational tours and industrial research;



To disseminate information and knowledge pertaining to industrial development;

To encourage good relation among industrialist in the province and promote the proper co-ordination and inter-related growth of all industrial undertakings;

Industrial Innovation and Skill Development in Galle District

The Galle District hosts industrial projects like the Meetiyagoda Center, producing pottery, coconut oil, and soap with modern machinery. The Bandungoda Technical Training Center offers hybrid and EFI vehicle courses, fostering skilled professionals and youth employability. These initiatives drive industrial growth, sustainability, and regional economic development in the Southern Province.



Industrial Innovation and Skill Development in Hambantota District

Thalunna Agriculture Farm focuses on organic fertilizers and antibiotic-free poultry, promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The Ruwanigama Center drives spice production and rural economic growth, while the Bogahapelessa Resort supports artisans and provides accommodations for pilgrims. Located in the Hambantota District, the Ridiyagama Fish Breeding Unit was handed over to the Southern Development Authority of Sri Lanka on September 14, 2018. Since then, it has grown into a profitable operation, significantly contributing to the sustainable development of the inland fishery industry in the region.



The Matara District hosts key initiatives like the Denipitiya Multipurpose Center, promoting local entrepreneurship and traditional cuisine.

Ruhunu Visakam Sales Center

Our products are crafted with the highest quality standards, ensuring purity and health benefits. We use locally sourced ingredients, such as spices, copra, and sea fish, processed hygienically without artificial additives. Our skinless chicken curry mix and freshwater fish products are rich in essential nutrients, while our iodized salt guarantees trusted quality. The Maldive fish is carefully dried, and our coconut-based products are aflatoxin-free and approved by the relevant authorities.
