The certificate awarding ceremony for the 5-day Batik training program, conducted at the Meepe Piyadarshana Temple at the request of the Habaraduwa Divisional Secretariat, was held yesterday (2026.04.30) at the temple premises.

The event was attended by the Assistant Divisional Secretary of Habaraduwa, Ms. Sujeewa Damayanthi, along with several other officials representing the Divisional Secretariat. Representing the political authority, the Honorable Chairman of the Habaraduwa Pradeshiya Sabha, Mr. Thakshina Ravishan, and the Member of Pradeshiya Sabha for the Meepe Division, Mr. Kithsiri Thiranagama, among other officials, also graced the occasion. This program was supervised by Ms. Dilini Rasanjali of our institution.

In 2025, at the request of the Habaraduwa Pradeshiya Sabha, this initiative was launched in collaboration with our institution as a preliminary program to identify grassroots-level unemployed individuals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in self-employment across all Grama Niladhari divisions in the area.

As the second phase of this project, training was provided to those identified last year who expressed interest in the Batik industry. The primary objective of both the Habaraduwa Pradeshiya Sabha and our institution is to provide these individuals with the necessary equipment under a 50% contribution scheme to start their businesses, thereby securing their direct contribution to the national economy. This project was initiated as a pilot project.
